Champagne
Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs
Champagne Taittinger began in the early 1930s, Pierre Taittingers flair for aesthetic elegance and an entrepreneurial vision helping to establish it rapidly as a fine producer of Champagne. With vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and the Aube, Champagne Taittinger continues to embody the precise balance of power and drive softened with elegance and finesse.
Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger this esteemed Champagne house has always been highly regarded for the elegance, consistency and finesse it achieves across the range of cuvees it produces. With vineyards across many of the premium areas of Champagne this house has the ability to source the perfect grapes for the perfect cuvee. Maurice, the son of Pol had a particular love for the richness of the Pinot Noir grape, this was a passion he shared with Sir Winston Churchill a well-known devotee of the house.
Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame
The innovative and visionary talent of Mme Clicquot herself has made this Champagne label one of the most recognised and successful of the region. Her determination to share her wine with new markets enabled her to first ship the 1811 vintage to the Imperial court in St Petersburg. A little over 200 years later the house of Veuve Clicquot has many strong relationships with growers and vineyard owners all over Champagne.
Champagne
Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2004, Champagne, France
The youthful energy and vitality of this wine belie its age and vintage. The dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend adds a darker shade to fleshy stone fruits with forest floor earth and spice. This is a sleek, polished wine with such power and drive it will be at ease any stage of your day.
White
Eden Road Canberra Riesling 2015, Canberra District, New South Wales
A touch of the exotic adds complexity to this Canberra Riesling from a blend of two great vineyard sites. The necessary challenges of the vintage have resulted in a great Riesling. Very lifted aromatics with white flowers and citrus blossom, this wine shows a gentle side to what can be an austere variety.
Gembrook Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Yarra Valley, Victoria
Ian and June Marks decided in 1983 that this patch of land in the Yarra Valley was precisely what they had been looking for to express a cool climate wine style. This Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most elegant examples of this variety in Australia. Sensitive work in the vineyards helps to render exotic tropical fruits and balance them with more savoury herb and wild currant leaf allowing for poise and restraint. A deft hand in the winery helps to build gentle texture and weight making this a very mineral wine with true gastronomic appeal.
Tyrrell's Wines Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay 2011, Hunter Valley, New South Wales
"A classic Hunter Chardonnay with yellow tropical fruit and hints of spice that provides the foundation for the richness of this wine. With grapes entirely sourced from the Short Flat vineyard and wine aged in 30% new French oak barrels, it has lots of everything with some retained acidity letting the brightness peak out from beneath the creamy oak."
Red
Handpicked Collection Pinot Noir 2013, Yarra Valley, Victoria
From the Yarra Valley, home to many of Australias great wines comes this excellent example of the elegant variety Pinot Noir. 2013 is a very strong vintage for Pinot Noir in the valley and this wine is no exception. Medium bodied with dark forest fruits and spices, the fine tannins and gentle mouthfeel of this wine make it a suitable for many.
Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier 2013, Canberra District, New South Wales
An alluring and exciting wine from the Canberra district. This seduces with small dark crushed berries, lifted spices of pepper and clove. Tim Kirk has created a perfect illustration of Shiraz Viognier showing the elegance does not need to compromise power and length. The fine grained tannins are immaculate and add to the depth and persistence of the wine.
Leeuwin Estate "Art Series" Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Margaret River, Western Australia
Established in 1974 by Denis and Tricia Horgan. Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic. Over the past decade we have watched in wonder as LEASCS grew up from a scruffy schoolboy of firm oak, assertive tannins and variable ripeness into a perfectly articulate young man. He has now transformed into a prince of polished refinement impressive concentration and lifted fragrance. Violets and blackcurrants are interwoven with dark chocolate French oak and intricately balanced tannins.
Dessert
