20" vs 22" Roll-aboard

I check my luggage 99.9% of the time (and no, I don't want to get into a checked vs carry-on debate - to each their own!).

But am thinking of getting a rollaboard (or whatever they're called) for the times when my Hartmann duffel is too large & my Hartmann carry-on (shoulder; smaller thing) is too small. I'll still check it most of the time, but on occasion (like the upcoming Freddies when my flight will be landing relatively close to start time of Freddies & I don't want to waste time waiting for luggage to come up), I'll carry-on.

I'm trying to decide btwn the Hartmann 20" or 22" (both can be expanded; the regular 20" is being phased out). I bought them both today & brought home to try packing stuff in, etc, but thought I'd also check w/ the experts here (I had posted a similar thread on UA but that really dealt w/ the cut-out sizes which I understand are no longer in existance at the airports) & plus, I'll get a lot of guys for the most part answering on that one.

So any thoughts on 20 vs 22 - they both weigh the same or w/in an ounce of each other. Can both be put in wheels in or does the 22 have to go sideways on most UA planes overhead bins (my main carrier)? Any other pros, cons, etc, that I should be aware of?

I know some folk just pack a pair of pants w/ a couple of shirts for short trips, but I normally bring stuff for each day (again, to each his own) & now that I've been working out, the running shoes & sweats, etc (and btw - unrelated, but I'm happy to say that w/ weight loss, what I wore to last year's Freddies is too big ), so on the one hand the 22" seems like a better idea, but on the other hand would the 20" be ok? There's only a $30 price differential btwn the 2 pieces. I'll return the one I decide against as I won't need 2.
