Here's a recent advisory sent to travel agents. Quite a nice new way of getting to Europe! (PS - I'd appreciate some feedback as to whether I should continue to post these - do you consider it mere advertising or do you find it useful to know there's a new way of getting to Europe?)
NEW NZ/OS LONGTERM FARES TO UK/EUROPE
Air New Zealand is pleased to release new longterm fares to UK/Europe in conjunction with Austrian Airlines for sales/travel from 01 April 2004.
Please note the following routing options are applicable:
- Travel is available on the new Air New Zealand codeshare flights operated by Austrian Airlines i.e.
SIN - VIE ( For travel on/after 04 June 2004)
MEL/SYD - KUL - VIE
VIE - LON
- Travel via Tasman is only available in one direction
- Travel to the following European destinations AMS/BCN/BER/BRU/CPH/DUS/GVA/HAM/HEL/
MIL/NCE/OSL/ROM/STO/WAW/ZRH is only available via Vienna
- Please note RTW travel is available to Vienna via London without surcharge.
Fares to London or Vienna (exclusive of taxes) start from:
Low Season - From NZ$2,629 rt / $1,579 ow
Shoulder Season - From NZ$2,779 rt / $1,669 ow
High Season - From NZ$2,979 rt / $1,789 ow
Business Class - From $8,169 rt / $4,899 ow
For travel to AMS/BCN/BER/BRU/CPH/DUS/GVA/HAM/HEL/
MIL/NCE/OSL/ROM/STO/WAW/ZRH, add $200 for Y class fares, $400 for Business Class fares.
Booking Class: NZ - Q class
OS - W, V or Q class
SQ - K class (SIN - KUL only)
MH - L class (SIN - KUL only)

7 Days / 12 months
Restrictions:
Travel is not permitted on NZ3000-4849, 4900-4999, 9000-9999 flight numbers except where surcharge is collected
Stopovers:
One free stopover in each direction at permitted transfer points. Additional stopovers can be purchased at a charge of NZD150 per stop.
Surcharges:
A maximum of 3 sector upgrades can be purchased on NZ operated services at a charge of NZD1,500 per sector, booked in D class.
Changes:
Before departure - permitted at no charge
After departure - permitted at a charge of NZD100 per reissue, subject to other fare conditions.
iii. Travel on SQ/MH flight numbers between SIN-KUL and vv are permitted at a surcharge of NZD50 per sector. Child/infant discounts apply. The charge is to be collected as a surcharge and noted with a ‘Q’ in the fare calculation directly after the applicable sector.
i. Domestic USA sectors on NZ9000-9999 flight numbers from the following list are only permitted at a per sector surcharge. Child/infant discounts apply. The charge is to be collected as a surcharge and noted with a ‘Q’ in the fare calculation directly after the applicable sector.
Between SFO and LAX and vv NZD75
Between HNL and LAX/SFO and vv NZD150
Between LAX and NYC/WAS and vv NZD200
ii. Travel on NZ3000-3999 flight numbers between SIN-BKK and vv. are only permitted at a surcharge of NZD75 per sector. Child/infant discounts apply. The charge is to be collected as a surcharge and noted with a ‘Q’ in the fare calculation directly after the applicable sector.
B. Transfers
i. Permitted transfer points: APW/BKK/HNL/KUL/LAX/MEL/NAN/NYC/ OSA/PPT/RAR/SFO/SIN/SYD/TBU/TYO/VIE/WAS. Note: travel to AMS/BCN/ BER/BRU/CPH/DUS/GVA/HAM/HEL/MIL/NCE/OSL/ROM/STO/WAW/ZRH is only available via VIE.
ii. A transfer is permitted at LHR for travel to/from VIE in one direction only.
iii. A maximum of one trans-Tasman sector permitted over the entire journey.
iv. A transfer is permitted in each direction at AKL/WLG/CHC. Stopover is only permitted upon payment of the stopover surcharge.
v. Backtracking is not permitted.
vi. Surface sectors are permitted at passenger’s expense.
