The rate had cancellation untill 6pm of the day before. I expected to stay 2 nights, but on arrival advised the hotel that I'd be staying only one night due to another change in plans.
The points would have covered less than the 2-night stay, but more than the one-night i ended up staying.
So not instead of having paid the stay with my CC, I am out all my points and have an AUD 55 credit at this hotel *only*. Which I am not sure how to claim, how long it will last. I have no immediate plans to retur to Sydney, and flying down (8 hours+) just for one night to use this up is impossible...
You should cancel your 2 nights booking through your apps. Then make a new one for one night stay.
