Hi all. Frequent reader, first-time poster here. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I'm booking from SFO-BCN, via MUC on outbound trip and either MUC or FRA on return. I'd like to use a GPU to upgrade the SF-MUC and FRA-SFO legs. But I have no idea what availability for these upgrades looks like on Lufthansa. I'll be booking through United to get the PQD, then going through the hurdle to convert to LH flight numbers, etc.

Outbound trip is on Christmas day, SFO-MUC on LH459

Return trip is Jan 2nd, either FRA-SFO on LH454, or MUC-SFO on LH458

Any thoughts? If it's a long shot I might spring for biz fare, or fly United flights where my status will be more helpful.

Also -- are my odds any better if I book H class rather than Q?
