Montreal no longer has a FS Hilton; the franchisee took it private about a year ago. The Embassy Suites in Montreal does not get stellar reviews, so there aren't any really great HH properties here any longer. One of my favorite experiences at a HH brand property in the northeast was at the new Embassy Suites in Saratoga Springs, NY. It is the new ES design, so no atrium, and the rooms are clean and fresh. The restaurant/bar that hosts breakfast and the Manager's Reception is quite nice. Because of the racing heritage of the town, there are many horse themed design features that are interesting and not kitschy. It's an easy drive or Amtrak ride from NYC, and the town itself is attractive. Rates during the long summer racing season are quite high, so a free stay at that time could be seen as being quite lucrative. If you are considering a mattress run, avoid the Hilton and consider the downtown Hampton Inn. It's much above average for the brand.
