I completely agree - yes, there are options to buy food at the airport, and I guess I'll now be doing that before any future Band 3 short haul flights - but firstly, BA haven't officially told anyone that they've reduced the catering on these flights - so how are people meant to know that the only way they're going to get anything remotely substantial to eat is by buying in advance. And secondly, I haven't seen any reduction in pricing, or refunds offered to those who'd already booked before the changes were brought in, to make up for the reduction in catering. Surely, if this is purely about reducing waste, as they claim, they should be doing that?

And whilst, yes, business travelers can expense the cost of a nice Gordon Ramsay hamper or take out from the Mandarin Oriental - that's all costs that are coming off your company's bottom line, rather than BA's. And for the leisure traveler, it's costs coming straight out of their pockets. We shouldn't simply put up with the erosion of the service BA offers, because where's it going to stop? No doubt the free drinks will be next in their sights, which is about the only thing that still sets them apart from the LCC's.
