Mate, "major flaw"....is not how I'd describe it. Recognizing some of the posters who replied to you, based on their posting history you've probably got 100+ CX F flights in experience here. I am at quite a large number myself.

As someone who flies F a lot like yourself, I'm surprised you never noticed 2K has the identical "flaw". It's indeed a slight nuisance if you're really splitting hairs, but if you're coming out after a 48 hour roadshow.... I can't say I ever notice. I'm also surprised aa someone who flies a lot of F that you've never flown in the D seats. That is a feat. I usually pick a window, but fly enough and you don't have that choice always. I've sat in them both as op-ups and cash tix on countless occasions (maybe 20+ flights, I'm not sure exactly but it's a lot, albeit less than the windows), and have had some of my most wonderful sleeps in them. Zero downside except the loss of windows. I have a perception in my head they're "inferior" but each time I fly that perception is inevitably shattered every time. I still think CX should reserve the windows for its own members and cash pax, but that's anothet story.

This is my theory only, but I seem to notice the internet and amazing blogs, pictures, real time info etc provides an incredible array of info about things like F experience, down to the most minute details. I could easily see people getting disappointed thanks to their expectations / "standards" and whatnot being totally skewed by the deluge of filtered pictures and essays penned about the most minor of details, blown up to major proportions in our minds. Landing a D seat isn't the end of the world, and I reckon if there were no blogs or pics or whatnot people would be thrilled with any of the seats and much happier with many of their experiences with which they find fault. This is a bit of a side point.

The only F seat I genuinely didn't like was 4D on 74K. It was actually more narrow than the other seats, the window swung out like 1A/1K, and - the real thing I hated - the headphones were in a box compartment thing on the side, and I could not swap out to my own personal 'phones. It bothered me (first world) when I'd buy a cash ticket 24 hours out, get assigned 4D and board a plane full of redeemers who had grabbed the better seats 300 days ago. That's on CX for not better protecting seat assignments for its own. Anyway, to me this seat was genuinely different because not only was it the only seat lacking a window 1/9, but I couldn't plug my own headphones into the IFE. For me that was a big deal, I have a few pairs of 'phones I carry with me everywhere and am not a fan of CX's headphones.
