I have a reward ticket with a Star Alliance partner booked with Aeroplan.
The Aeroplan email with the flight information does show a 014 ticket #.
Can I assume that this is sufficient?
No. You need to call the operating airlines and verify they have your reservation. If they don't, then AE has to fix it. They can and will buy a revenue ticket to replace the failed points ticket if they didn't ticket in time.
