Dear SPG experts,

I know this is a strange question. But the situation is this. The conference I was set to attend as a main speaker has a last minute change in venue. From the east side of the city to the west side. It's a huge city and by cab is going to be one hour, with cab fare around $50-$70 USD. The hotel I have booked is prepaid, no refund.

To conference of course gave me the ok to book at a nearby hotel of my choice with full reimbursement. But of course this got me thinking. Instead of cancelling my previous hotel, can I just keep the booking, check-in, not stay there, check-out. Would SPG allow me to have double-booking of exact same dates at two different SPG properties and get stays/points for both? Or will this cause some alarm to be sound and only one stay/points will be credited?
