It's on you. It's called personal responsibility. Intent is irrelevant. I'm amazed that this is a question.

After taking responsibility for your actions, there is a valid question of how to pay for restitution. The hotel may not require it - chalking it up to the cost of doing business. But assuming they want you to pay for the damage, the next stop is your business insurance - most business insurance covers traveling employees for most anything they do while on a business trip except for extraordinarily gross negligence. Even if it's not company supplied equipment, we know our people have to live their lives on the road and accept responsibility for making them financially whole whenever possible.

If your company is unwilling to cover it then you should have coverage with your homeowners insurance that will take care of it. (And maybe time to look for a new employer.)

After all, that is what you pay premiums for and using it isn't dodging responsibility - in fact it's very responsible to have coverage that can take care of someone else's financial loss as a result of something you do.
