Sorry, no "honeymoon" upgrades. If a honeymooning couple with no status and super cheap tickets got upgraded before me, I would seriously question my loyalty to UA.
However, my wife and I were upgraded on our honeymoon on a flight from LHR to Cyprus on Cyprus Airways. But that was 33 years ago. United's pecking order likely didn't exist back then.
UA GAs who upgrade your family members ahead of elites on the upgrade list might find themselves looking for alternative employment. Tell that to your family members. If they really believe that they have a chance of upgrades, they are living in an alternative reality.
