Not really, I have a multiband AT&T that does GSM, TMDA all the way down to Analog here in the states, when I travel overseas I pop out the sim and put it into an unlocked GSM triband phone.

Not sure if CMDA would function the same, but no forwarding is needed when I leave, and if Inm in an area the triband has a signal in I can keep using that here.
