As suggested by my previous answer, 05:00 hrs seems way too early, but if you prefer to be early and explore the (very small) terminal then that should give you 90 minutes airside. The Travelodge is next to the Hilton (which is my preferred hotel, the shuttles run more often than the other hotels) and I allow 15 minutes for the transfer. I had a go answering the domestic queue question in my earlier answer, only on Fridays is it bad nromally (and generally better than BRU anyway). You don't need a visa check when travelling around the USA. When leaving the USA at the final port, it's done at check-in or the gate, you're unlikely to notice it.
