There are good dining options in Avon not much further than Burger King but you do have to walk. A buddy of mine works at Pazzo's so I've had my fair share of walking around Avon. If your not planning to hang out at the hotel and want a ski village experience, definitely go to Whistler or take the shuttle up to BC village or Vail.

Note, you can also take the Vail/Eagle bus system which has a pickup spot across the railroad tracks.
