I've stayed at both properties within the last two years, and would overall say that they were equally enjoyable. While the Whistler property is in a great location at the top of the village, one needs to take the River Run gondola at BC to get to the mountain. The gondola drops you at the lift by the parking lots, which then requires a lift ride up to Bachelor Gulch.
Whistler is a great area, but the weather can be finicky ( rain at the base and snow at the summit). You certainly can't beat the pedestrian only Whistler Village, which has an abundance of shops and restaurants. In terms of BC, the hotel is located in Avon, so not much within walking distance other than a Burger King.
Both ski areas are outstanding. Whistler tends to get quite crowded, but one can stay ahead of the crowds at BC since it is so spread out (village to village).
In terms of the distance from the airports, Whistler is an amazing drive from Vancouver in the sea to ski highway, but is also a pain in the neck, as the airport is on the southern side of Vancouver. If you are flying into Vail/Eage airport, BC is a piece of cake. However, if you are flying into Denver, it can be a challenge if it's snowing. The Eisenhower tunnel and Vail passes so do close, which may leave you stranded.
In terms of award availablity, I've had no issues with award stays and paid stays at Whistler, but game playing goes on at BC with award availability due to some of their room configurations and lock-outs. The general manager tries to defend their lack of availability, but Starwood allows the games to ensue even when trying to book a year in advance. Accordingly, before making any decisions, I would check award availability for both properties.
