If your dates are flexible, why don't you search for another date with the availability and ticket it straightaway? Afterall, next April is still pretty far out and date changes are complimentary should you decide not to travel on those dates in the end.
You can call SQ to send a chaser, but if they do open up the seats for you, it's entirely on a goodwill basis, since u didn't plan ahead sufficiently to use your points before they expire.
