I just checked SYD-SGN via BKK and the transit is like only less than 2 hour, so it isn't good to choose this flight. I think the SGN-SYD via BKK will be better as my outbound will be in F instead of Business, and it allows me to have couple hours to explore the lounge, spa and airport.
you will have plenty of time. Arriving first class from Sydney you will be met by a Thai airways employee with a golf cart to drive you to transit. they will then facilitate security screening and take you directly to the first class lounge. You should have around about an hour in the lounge, maybe more, before needing to head to your flight to SGN.
