I need to start traveling to and from NYC/LAX once a week for the next year. I’m willing to pay for coach tickets, but I’d like to be upgraded to first/business class as often as possible to make the frequent trips more bearable.

I’m pretty much starting from scratch, so what would you suggest is the best airline/credit card to maximize my chances of being upgraded as much as possible?
