this is 100% correct. I had this happen on a NRT - SIN flight. I used a GUC to get upgraded all the way through from JFK but missed the NRT-SIN flight due to my late inbound into NRT. I was put on an ANA 787 in business class the next day. In fact, I got this rebooking done by using twitter. Took all of 5 minutes.
Thank you for posting this. I'm hyper-critical of DL at times, but I will say that they've been excellent about this. Glad to hear others have had similar experiences.
