I'd focus 1) ease or difficulty for you to get to each location as well as 2) the different terrain, as opposed to the two properties.
I've been to both mountains but only stayed at BC. Whistler is now MASSIVE but is a hike to get to (between getting to YVR as well as the drive up). BC easier...also I find it a smallish mountain, but Vail is massive and is a short drive away.
