Well worth the nominal cost.

Does it give lounge access etc?
It does. Decent snacks and plenty of reading materials.

What is the seating config, is it an american style 2-2 seat or a euro style shorthaul business class of 2-3?
Depends on the equipment. From personal experience, I can vouch for the quality of the 744 (2-2 upstairs) and 333 (2-2-2, IIRC) product, both of which are international style. However, others have reported that all 300 aircraft and some 777 configurations are inferior to the 744 and 333, so consider yourself forewarned. Again, since the added cost over economy is marginal, this is not a big deal, but I'd try to line up a flight on a 744 or 333, if possible.

And tvl4free is right: the search button works wonders! Here's an example to whet your appetite.
