I'm fairly new to AF, but have been traveling on paid F fares this year and am racking up miles fairly quickly, in addition to having lots of credit card points to potentially transfer.

I see that upgrading from EU-US on AF from J to P is 75000 miles each way, but I wanted to clarify a couple of things.

1.) Can any J booking class be upgraded, even discounted fares?

2.) Are there any limitations on availability to upgrade, (my understanding is that full F awards are on a seat available basis....I am an FB Platinum now.)
