Fair enough, that could be one of the many possible reasons. None of my CCs allows partial dispute btw. I can only dispute a charge in its entirety and only after negotiating with the vendor. For the OP, this all went pretty fast, I have to say.
Well, of course this did start back in July, so the OP would possibly already have been some way through the chargeback process when they first posted here. With UK card providers it can be a tortuous dispute process, but my impression is that it's rather more customer-friendly in the US, with quicker resolution.
You will no doubt have much more experience than me - is a month a sensible time to resolve a chargeback on a US card (ignoring for a moment the question of the partial element)?
