Sometimes they could opt to cancel an aircraft and then push PAX to the next flight because if both plans were at 40% booked--combined into one is 80%.
I would have thought the same. And it was cancelled the day before so it wasn't a completely last minute thing.
As far as I remember it was over 50% on my original but I have no idea about the later one pre-cancellation. It was 100% booked at boarding but went out with one seat free (next to me).
