We have had prior to our departure to SYD end of September, checked with F check in that the trunk (empty) 34 x 20 x 13 is quite ok to be used at checked luggage rather than oversized luggage, we will also only be travelling with 2 x 32kg suitcases and 1 cabin bag which is going into the hold. No cost involved^
