There are Visitor's Oyster Cards but buy a regular Oyster Card when you get there. Consider riding the bus so you can see things instead of going by Tube everywhere. The Tube is faster to go across town, though.
The bus is cheap because after you ride something like 3 times, the rest of the day is free by bus. They cap the maximum you can spend.
