Well, you need to read up on military and infrastructure-targeted attacks then. Not asserting at all that this is what it is, but there is growing concern that other countries are exploring the vulnerabilities in our US industrial and energy grid control systems.
Yeah, that's what I meant by "tin foil hat path" (in the context of this specific outage, not the world as a whole).
