The best Thai restaurant in AMS is called Rakang. Located at Elandsgracht 29 it is upscale, but only slightly pricey. The menu has many choices, and the food is EXQUISITE! Reservations recommended. 020 627 5012

The best Indian food in Amsterdam is at Bombay inn. I have been eating Indian food since before I could talk, and I seek it out in every city I visit. I have tried at least two dozen Indian restaurants in Amsterdam, and this is the one I keep returning to. They recently served me the most delicious Aloo Ghobi that I have EVER enjoyed, and I don't say that lightly. The menu is extensive, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They are located on Langeleidsedwaarsstraat 46, between Leidsestraat and Leidsegracht. I have never needed a reservation.

The best Italian restaurant in AMS is L'Angoletto, at Hemonystraat 18. Hard to find but tough to beat, they are located near the Albert Cuypmarkt. Wonderfull pizzas, pastas, and seafood to die for. Not too expensive, and worth the search. WARNING They do not accept credit cards for orders under $100. Res.# 020 676 4182

The best Sushi experience in amsterdam is Zushi, at Amstel 20. I love this place! Sushi served dim sum style, via a conveyor belt that delivers a wide variety of fresh sushi around the entire resaurant. If you don't see what you want on the belt, they will make it for you fresh. Also check the great teppan yaki specials. Somewhat pricey, but worth every euro. Res.# 020 330 6882

The best Indonesian food in Amsterdam is Selecta, at Vijzelstraat 26. Slightly pricey, but the quality is unrivaled. Have a rijstaffel! Res.# 020 624 8894.
Runner up Indonesian restaurants... Bojo. Langeleidsedwarsstraat 51, res # 020 622 7434. and Kantijl En De Tijger, at Spuistraat 291.
There are plenty of good steak houses in Amsterdam. I can recommend many of them.
El Rancho Steak Houses are excellent. I usually go to the one at Korteleidsedwarsstraat 36. res.# 020 625 0007
Gauchos, has several good steak houses, one is at Damstraat 5, res.# 020 623 9632. Another is at Korteleidsedwarsstraat 109.
The Three Sisters Pub & New York Steakhouse has locations in the Rembrandtplein and the Leidseplein. A bit more expensive than the South Amerikan beeferies, but with great seafood and cocktails.
If you need an Amerikan style burger, go to the Hard Rock Cafe, in the Max Euweplein.
