Have you stayed at other properties that you have liked better?

What restaurants did you go to near the Hampton?

How often at night did trains come by?
The only other one we've stayed at on the Columbia (non-Gorge, of course) is the Hampton Inn in Astoria. Which is lovely. But it was insanely expensive for this trip.

Solstice Pizza (very good pizza), the restaurant at the Best Western (believe it or not! It's the number one restaurant on Trip Advisor for Hood river. Food was also very good), and Charburger country (twice -- once for dinner and once for breakfast. Very good hamburgers and great "homestyle" American breakfast). Hood River is infested with foo-foo restaurants and microbreweries all, it appears to me, competing to have the most "chic" menus -- even the breakfast places. If that's your thing, Hood River will be a delight

About once an hour.
