shift happens man but whenever possible you should always buy tickets directly thru the airline. this way if you're presented with an irrop you can call the airline directly and have them reroute you. don't deal with airport agent lineups. you need to be proactive, not a sucker waiting in a line hoping that someone will fix something tfor you. unfortunately air travel in majority of the world doesn't really work that way anymore.

if you were short on time you should have stopped waiting for your luggage and prioritized getting your body on the plane. then in yyz you could have the airline forward your bag. while schedule is not in the conditions of carriage, having the airline (eventually) deliver your bags to your destination is.

Sucks to get the runaround, but how long does it take to figure out that standing in the same line is not the solution?

Call AC and get rebooked on a partner. Lots of *A flights out of IST.
