I'll confirm this isn't true for Delta. If you can't provide the original FOP, you can pay the identical fare on a new FOP, and the original charge is refunded to that FOP. I don't know what would happen if the original FOP had been deactivated after purchase. A wild guess would be a travel voucher for the amount would be issued... maybe a check
If the FOP needs verification, the physical card
must be presented, no exceptions. Photos of the card, printouts of the card, card statements, etc. would not suffice.
Just to confirm...by "pay the identical fare" do you mean that, hypothetically if it were an international J award and a small amount of taxes and fees were put on a credit card, that is it just the cash outlay (and not miles, or miles converted to $ at historical prices) exclusive of the miles that would need to be charged to a new FOP?
