I think you've learned that
- medicine shouldn't be checked in the cargo hold
- relying on any common carrier to transport you via a connection in a 3rd country on the last day of a court ordered date is probably a bad idea
- Air Canada is pretty bad at irregular operations
- traveling a minor is stressful
You're right I learned a lot of useful lessons from this experience and I agree with you that it was something naif to check medicine in the cargo hold.
