Not sure the point of noting that you don't care about your luggage, all that matters is connecting onward ... only to actually care about your luggage later.

I think you've learned that
- medicine shouldn't be checked in the cargo hold
- relying on any common carrier to transport you via a connection in a 3rd country on the last day of a court ordered date is probably a bad idea
- Air Canada is pretty bad at irregular operations
- traveling a minor is stressful
