I'm getting conflicting information from the Indian call centre but as far as I can understand the bag is still at Linate. British Airways has apparently asked whoever at LIN to send it to Heathrow. This has been done more than once but for whatever reason hasn't happened. At least a half dozen occasions agents have told me that the bag has been located and is at Milan, it simply hasn't been sent to Heathrow. My concern is that the contracted lackies are simply reading that LIN was the last place it was scanned and are therefore assuming that's where it is.
The reality is no-one in an Indian call centre has a clue where your bag is. They are either reading off World Tracer or repeating some notes on your PNR made from your previous call. If the first person you spoke to has made an incorrect entry about Linate then the rest of the calls may well just be repeating the same nonsense. Remember also the name of the game for call centre staff is to get you off the phone as quickly as possible.
You are really in a waiting game now. However it's less usual for things to take this long, and a week in I would be starting my list of contents in case it doesn't reappear.
