Stop right there. It's Spirit. This is a cheap airline. You WILL get what you pay for sooner or later, as you are currently experiencing.
I would not expect anything when contacting their customer agents. They make more money pillaging, I mean, nickel-and-diming people by bumping them for 9 days at a time, as you are experiencing, than they do delivering true customer service.
I'll only book Spirit if there is a serious family emergency and no other options are available. I'd actually consider taking a bus before flying Spirit.
