There is a separate HHonors check in. I got in line and was greeted with "I assume you're checking in." I was then handed two keys. I had to ask about Diamond benefits, the facilities, Wi-Fi, everything. She barely grunted each answer. I booked a Corner Suite because I knew I wanted that room and wasn't going to try to rely on an upgrade. As I was being handed the keys she said: "Rooms are being upgraded but you're not in one. You'll see next time you're here."
I made note that we were celebrating our ten-year wedding anniversary in the reservation. No mention. Not even "Happy Anniversary."
I told her I valet parked a car and she said "doesn't matter to me."
The facilities are largely under construction. The place is severely overcrowded and the class of people here has severely deteriorated. On the beach, you used to have to rent umbrellas and chairs. Now chairs are free (well, included in the $52 resort fee rip off...especially bad if you have status). They are all packed and it's a loud mess on the beach.
Overall, this property might improve once it's done being remodeled. For now, avoid it.
That's obviously a person that doesn't get it. I happened to get one of those last time I was there - if that ever happens, immediately, politely ask for the manager and discuss with him or her that this particular employee needs some serious retraining.
Edit: will be there in Dec for a week and give an update
