UA reservation with SAS flights

Hello! This is my first time flying UA with legs on SAS and I have a few newbie questions. Flying from my home airport through IAD and LHR to ARN.

First, a comment: the reservation wouldn't ticket after 24 hours and I had to call in and get the reservation "unstuck". From what I can tell from Googling, it's quite common for SAS flights. (LHR-ARN is an SK flight, and didn't have a UA number -- I think that was the problem. ARN-LHR is also SK, but has a UA codeshare number.)

So now, my reservation has been ticketed and confirmed, and I see two additional SAS confirmation numbers. The first has two flights on it, my departing IAD-LHR (UA) and LHR-ARN (SK) flights. The second actually has four flights: the SK flight from the first confirmation, and my 3 UA flights on the return.

So that one SK flight has been confirmed twice. Is this normal? I assume that as long as I have a United confirmation number for all 6 flights, I'm OK, but just wanted to make sure that something didn't get screwed up there, and that having two "confirmations" for one flight doesn't matter.

Also, since I have *G, it's my understanding that I can get advanced seat assignments on the SK flights. Can I do that online? Or do I have to call SAS? (I assume I would use the confirmation # with both SAS flights on it, because they don't care about my UA confirmation number....)

Thank you!
