Booking AS was a decision made by the corporate travel department. I'm not complaining, I like AS but flying out of PHX, I don't get to fly them often. But I just am not sure if I should credit each airline to its own program, all to AA or all to AS.
There's no reason you should credit to AS just because it's an AS flight, but you should look at how many miles you would earn in each program for that flight; it might not be the same*. With those numbers in hand, the only criterion should be: would earning those AS miles be at least as useful to you as earning those AA miles?
