I've never been a big fan of Seoul for tourist stuff, but I have lived here for 14 years (moving out today actually).

The hotel is quite nice, staff so far have been just what you would expect for the type of hotel. Location is very good, the subway is just downstairs and Dongdaemun (one of those tourist sites) is outside my window. This whole area is a popular shopping area with a good night market, Pyunhwa is right outside the door (lots of clothing, as well as arts and crafts stores... and not the overpriced .... tour guides would take you to).

Subway here is line 4, probably the 3rd best line to be on, and line 1. Line 1 is the main line, and Line 2 is a circle that goes around the city (line 1 cuts through it from north to south). Line 4 hits up with 6 within a few stops of here (line 6 has Itaewon and a few other main tourist/expat places) on it. Those 4 lines will cover most of the tourist places you want to go to. So, it's pretty good for public transportation connections. Namsan tower (another popular tourist spot) is a short taxi ride away (or you can take line 4 to line 6 and get off at Noksapyeong and walk up the mountain to the tower).
