If you are travelling to the US I am pretty sure that the answer is no as US Customs won't be open after midnight to let you through. I don't know what the answer would be if you wanted to get into the international concourse at that late hour. If you can get in I would think it would be fine to sleep there.
As per hotels the ALT and Sheraton are the easiest as both are accessible via the train that runs between terminals (landside) and parking where the ALT hotel is. There are a ton of other hotels within a 5 minute ride by taxi or hotel shuttle.
I mean the international (non-USA) departure gates.
If one arrives around midnight on a domestic flight, and leaves around 8 hour later on an international flight, what are the options in terms of minimizing time to get to a hotel, at the most cost-effective price?
After midnight, I suspect most hotels do not have an regular pick-up times at the airport - the hotel probably has to be called for the shuttle to come- from personal experience at other US airports, the shuttle can take 30 min (or more) to come at one's request.
