That's a fair point. I've never had to evacuate a plane, but I when the plane begins its descent I move my phone, wallet and passport back into my pockets and put my shoes back on. I hope that if I'm ever in that situation I'll have the wherewithal to think clearly and leave everything else behind.
Those items always stay with me on the plane so that I don't have to find them in an emergency situation.
