I am careful to not use priority rewards unless I need to as one way flights can use them up much quicker. For multi city awards the website is often not able to process them while it is no problem to do the same flights with two one ways, the only problem is that it uses two of the 10 rewards. Ive been told that the same can apply with phoned in reward flights as well as web booked. Given that another person can book 1 reward for a bunch of people on return flights (same PRN) it shows some inflexibility. Maybe offer priority awards for 10 return or 15 or 20 one way flights...
There was one flight I booked 3 hours out that was R9I0. I booked a round-trip J reward with that segment confirmed in economy, knowing I was guaranteed to sit in J.
Other times, I'll book a time I don't want and pay the $75 SDC fee to get onto the one that only had R space.
There are many "tricks" around it if you really need to save the IKK.
I have 5 left, and I'm wondering if I really needed the tricks. Combining my one-ways into round-trips, where possible, may have been good enough for 2016.
