Anyway, I hear you and I’m on your side. I believe the FA could have handled much better by politely asking your father if the boy is OK and if there is anything that the crew should be aware of. Having said that, FAs handle 99.8% of all situations with grace and care. It is the .2% that gets the attention as your case shows. I say forget about it and move on. Not worth an email or aggravation of a "form" reply. But there is something to be learnt from it.
Personally I would never approach an FA in-flight to attempt to clarify anything. You just never know if their dog died, their boy/girl dumped them, or they came home to find a stranger wearing their slippers. Why bother, let it ride. I only speak to them when they come to my seat and talk to me or when I go to the galley to ask for a fresh brew.
