Perhaps some people put their passports, prescription medication, and other travel essentials in their carry-on bags, instead of in the pockets of their clothes or otherwise attached to themselves.

If you are concerned about the small possibility of evacuation, it may be a good idea to put that stuff where it will stay attached to you if you have to evacuate.
