Another place I liked (but which gets mixed reviews) is Indian Oven in the Lower Haight at 233 Fillmore (cross street is Waller).

Finally, if you find yourself in the Mission District (highly recommended) there are several good Indian restaurants along Valencia near (and on) 16th St. A great place is the Bombay Ice Creamery - just a flew blocks south of 16th on Valencia. They have some small dishes but the real reason to go is for the ice creams and other Indian sweets. AMAZING.
