...everything else the OP has posted suggests to me that they are anything BUT fully prepared for any scenario, other than perhaps to pick a fight. A considered comment to the FA at one of numerous points could probably have completely calmed the situation. It's called taking responsibility for a situation.
And yes, I do understand autism, as I have a niece who is.
