I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants either, but sometimes they are a good choice, especially when one is looking for the particular combination of characteristics that are needed for a group.

Another one that I think might be good for groups (have eaten here once but not with a group yet) is the Daily Grill on Geary between Powell and Mason. It's part of a national chain.
