Always, Always, Always carry a change of clothes, or at the very least underwear with you when you travel! You never know when you might need it.

Case in point, a few years ago I was flying PHL-MDW, but was in the process of moving so I just threw my stuff in my bags. One was overweight, so I had to move stuff into the other. I heard that dreaded fabric rip, but didn't think anything of it. Well, my pants ripped in a place that they probably shouldn't, and I only noticed when I got past security. Luckily, I had some workout shorts in my suitcase. It was November...I was cold...but I was covered!

I know that wasn't your situation, but these are two reasons why you always need to prepare for the unexpected.
