Just caught up with this thread. I was on the flight from JFK to LHR that was delayed due to this flight arriving late from LHR. The delay was 3 hours which was announced in small increments (1 hour, I,5 hours etc.) and due to the late arrival the gate was switched to the other half of the BA terminal at JFK where the A/C didn't work. No refreshment vouchers handed out and the non-priority passengers were made to wait for 30 minutes in the heat (after hanging around the gate for an hour because the gate staff refused to identify a correct departure time) until every last priority passenger had boarded. The temperature on the plane was cool from the ground A/C. Pilot came on and said that whatever else we had heard the truth was that the aircraft had diverted to Boston because of the 20 minute thunderstorm at JFK, had been about to take off from Boston for JFK, when there was a sick passenger who had to be offloaded further delaying the incoming flight. After we took off, temperature gradually rose (don't know whether this was due to the fault). Dreadful flight in WT+, on arrival received questionnaire on my phone and really laid into BA. Surprised to receive a response two weeks later acknowledging that there was a problem with the temperature control on that flight (no Avios given for that!).
The service on the flight was minimal and I could not get my body temperature under control (age, I know) until I checked into the hotel and set the A/C at 60F.
The whole experience made me question why, although I don't travel as frequently as I used to, after 40 years why I should continue to use BA. I have had better service on a Delta domestic flying down the back to New York from Florida at the beginning of the year than on this flight.
